Tell us a little bit about your startup “swargadwara.com”

SWARGADWARA.COM is a single point solution for various funeral and post-death rituals. The company was launched in Bhubaneswar on 25th November 2016. A single phone call and services for all types of death related rituals will be provided at the client’s doorstep.

While a number of startups have come up to cater to various needs & requirements of the Indian public, few have cared to venture into the distressed category. Few have tried to provide some relief in the lives of people and alleviated their pain by easing their mode of reach to urgent essential services. One such start-up, 1st one to do so in Odisha, is SWARGADWARA.COM a company that provides services and solutions for all types of funeral requirements.

The company provides following the stream of services:

• Body transport van and all types of funeral logistics
• Arrangements for death anniversaries
• Annual Shraadh solutions
• Journey facilitation and related arrangements for ashes immersion ritual at Allahabad, Haridwar, Gaya & Kasi
• Body repatriation from key cities to Bhubaneswar by air

How did you come up with this idea and why this name?

The concept of Swargadwara.com initially struck when the founder, Plaban Mohapatra, happened to witness his younger brother’s difficulties and hassles for 13 days to arrange all the requirements and logistics for his father-in-law’s funeral & post funeral rituals. His brother’s job location being out of state contributed to his unfamiliarity with local vendors which added to his struggle to ensure that all rituals were followed religiously, thus making things tougher for him. That was when the idea to offer a single point co-ordinated service for such unfortunate occasions came across the Founder’s mind so that the concerned people do not have to run around for the arrangements during such grief-stricken occasions. The concept received genuine acceptance among family, friends, and various individuals. That was when Plaban resolved to go ahead with his idea of “Swargadwara.com”.

• Providing cheaper body transport operations than prevailing market rates as currently Swargadwara.com sources transport arrangements from third party operators.
• Providing logistics at lower rates than current retail market prices as currently Swargadwara.com sources all arrangements from third party vendors.
• Arranging sufficient funds for advertisement and expansion activities.

Your vision and mission?

The company’s vision is to evolve and simplify the way grief-stricken families in India are currently dealing with emotional stress as well as tangible requirements during the unfortunate occasion of a demise. The vision is to see a less distressed look on the faces of bereaved families by organizing all the ritual requirements with dignity, respect, and empathy.

The company’s mission is to provide a single point solution for all funeral and related ritual requirements and make the emotional occasion as seamless and peaceful as can be and that too at a lighter burden on the client’s pocket.
